Harry Potter “Magic” Tours

(tours from May to October)

Glenfinnan Viaduct

Glenfinnan Viaduct

The tour begins in Edinburgh, adopted home of J K Rowling, who began writing her spell-binding stories in the capital.  We can go to  the cafes where she was often seen with notebook and pen in hand  – Nicholsons and the Elephant House, and we can also visit  the 5 star Balmoral Hotel where she finished writing Harry Potter and “The Deathly Hallows” in 2007.

Hogwarts Hall-Alnwick Castle

Hogwart’s Hall – Alnwick Castle

From Edinburgh I will take you south of the Border on  a day trip to Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft (alias Alnwick Castle), where you can grab a broomstick to do a flying lesson near the towering defensive walls of the castle  or watch with awe as Hagrid and Harry perform magic in front of your very eyes.  (May – October)

Back in Scotland we head to the Highlands to several film locations:

Glencoe, where Hagrid’s Hut featured in “Prisoner of Azkaban”;  Glen Nevis to admire the spectacular waterfall  – scene of the thrilling game of quidditch in “The Goblet of Fire”;  and then we take the steam train north, crossing over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct where the Ford Anglia flew overhead in “The Chamber of Secrets”.  The train journey from Fort William to Mallaig is known as one of the Great Train Journeys of the World and for Potterites is not to be missed!

Thank you so much for a wonderful tour of Scotland.  It really surpassed all of our expectations and was an experience we will all remember fondly.  It was such a pleasure meeting you.
